CRISTO DE LA CONCORDIA

Serrania de San Pedro, Cable Car L. Castel Quierqa
It may not be as famous as its counterpart in Rio but the statue of Cristo de la Concordia is in fact 30cm higher, apparently a more accurate depiction of Jesus’ life standing at 33.3m high, a metre for every year of his life.

LAS HEROINAS DE LA CORONILLA

Near Plaza de San Sebastián
This monument commemorates one of the most dramatic events in Cochabamba’s history. In 1812, during the War of Independence, the women of Cochabamba were forced to defend themselves on this hill from the invading Spanish troops. They fought bravely until they were finally overwhelmed on 27th May.

MARTIN CARDENAS BOTANICAL GARDEN

Av. Ramón Rivero / General Galindo
Walking through the calm of the botanic gardens in Cochabamba you’ll see over 200 types of cacti alongside shrubs and imported trees from different continents.

3 GOOD REASONS
 ...to visit Cochabamba
1) Cochabambinos live to eat - huge portions, 6 times a day for little money
2) Known in Bolivia as "the city of eternal spring" - not too hot, not too cold!
3) Try chicha - local fermented maize drink - just don't ask how they start the fermentation process!
