Shop till you drop

Feria market, one of the hugest markets you will ever see, is located near the bus station to the north of central Santa Cruz. It’s all located under one roof and set up in a massive area with row upon row of over-laden stalls. You will need at least two hours to fully explore and lose yourself in the maze.

You can buy anything and everything here and there are some great bargains to be found: electronic items, clothes, shoes, CDs and DVDs as well as tourist items (many of which are half the price they can be found for in town). Better still, many of the stall-holders are willing to bargain, especially towards the end of the day. I hung around until 7pm and managed to bag, amongst the bargains, flip-flops for 20Bs and a handbag for 15Bs.

At the market there are also many food stalls with local delicacies to be sampled, so be sure to come ready to have all your senses bombarded.

Getting there: Micro 55 or taxi.

When to go: Open all day Wednesday and Saturday.
